Orgullosamente catracha.
Hola! My name is Ariela, and if there is one thing I won’t let people forget it's I was born and raised in the small but mighty Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I recently graduated with my BFA Acting degree from Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts. I am currently based in New Jersey; so being far from my country, I lead life keeping my roots close to my heart, and never forgetting what fuels me: family, culture, ginger ale, brow gel, and most important of all, an intense passion.
Walking into a room, I strive to ignite people’s hearts on fire. Themes that inspire me ardently include romance, family, and tragedy. I hope to explore these ideas while staying true to all parts of me, like my silliness and femininity, yet grounded power and direction. I also believe Latinidad in theatre and film has so much still to offer. So, I hope to pioneer beautiful art centering my rich culture the way giants like Alfonso Cuarón, America Ferrera, and María Irene Fornes have.
I am deeply committed to being a versatile and well-rounded performer as well as a theatre-maker. Inspiration for my craft comes in a walk through a museum, a leg-numbing tennis lesson, the therapeutic nature of putting on makeup, and music sessions varying from 50s boleros to bass-filled reggeaton. These all ultimately remind me of who I am and how much I’ve got to share.
Coming from an upbringing where seeing theatre, no less performing, was scarcely possible, I take no opportunities for granted and push myself to be acutely present and honest in everything I do. As I keep learning and growing, I hope to take power in every facet of my identity while also subverting narratives and proving the layered magnetism of my singularity.
